Are you worried about what to do for your next date? How can I ‘dress to impress’ they say? How do you feel about outdoor camping with a surprise? A wonderful evening out on a boat in the middle of the ocean? A weekend getaway, spa treatment, and/or visit a concert or circus on a bicycle? According to Geer, "Romance can be found when you pay attention to your partner, remember what they like and show them they matter to you." So, check out these five amazing date ideas for your next big date!

Backyard Camping Candlelight

What is the best way to make use of your backyard space - why not outdoor camping with a little candlelight? Put your creativity and love to the test! Hang paper lanterns, pepper lights, LED strips or bulbs, or candles all around the backyard for efficient lighting. Whichever light source you use will set the mood and theme for the date. Find soft, classical, and/or soul music to play in the background to create an atmosphere of love. Do not forget to pitch a tent in the corner of the yard for comfort and late-night conversations! Include a cute and little bonfire with marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate, and sticks nearby for s'mores later. Install a mini theater with plush cushions to chill and cuddle with your date. Be sure to carefully select a range of chick-flicks or classic romantic movies to watch together. A game session doesn't sound like a bad idea either! Uno or any board games are great for laughter and fun. Lastly, there cannot be outdoor camping without food. Cook up a 3 or 5 course meal to pull off the biggest and romantic date ever! To make this date official, you can create a menu with the list of events and/or activities for the night to make your date follow your lead and be amazed about what you pulled off. He/she will be full of excitement and eagerly awaiting to enjoy each experience you have to offer.

Backyard Camping Candlelight, Part 2

Furthermore, each area of the backyard can be turned into a country with activities and/or ideas relating to its culture. For example, an Italian theme dinner - bonding over great wine, spaghetti, and meatballs, and with a mini Eiffel tower. This sounds like a remake of Lady and the Tramp movie - two lovers bonding over a single strand of spaghetti. A Caribbean island theme for conversations, relaxation, and cold drinks. Here is a cold drink idea; served coconut water chilled in the coconut shell with a pair of straws and mini umbrellas. Get white sand, hammocks, and inflated palm trees to seal the deal. An Indian theme chill spot for movies and snacks. Yoga mats or sleeping mats with cushions and soft candlelight will do the trick for the best chilling/cuddling experience. An American theme games area with Parcheesi, Uno, and/or classic board games. This is great for 21 questions or getting to know you conversations.

Spa Treatment

Booking an appointment at a spa is a great date idea. If you want to save money, you can recreate the experience at home. It can be an all-day activity and is the ultimate date idea. Pedicure and manicure, full body massage, hair styling, facials, a meditation session, and a bubble bath/hydrotherapy to end the date. Include wine and/or champagne, strawberries, and chocolate, and soft music to relax the nerves. This is a good way to release stress and relax for the day. Here are some things you can do at home if want to save money:

  • Aromatherapy

  • Milk bath

  • Rejuvenating body scrub

  • Foot mask and massage

  • Facial mask and massage

  • Hand massage

  • Steamy shower

  • Yoga

A Weekend Getaway

Plan a weekend getaway, somewhere far from home for just the two of you. Create a single or multiple destination itinerary outlining activities and/or events to attend and do. According to the 66 Date Night Ideas to Inspire Romance article “Flowers and candlelight can be romantic, but so can hot dogs and a baseball game," Boykin says. “The idea that there's still more to learn and be surprised by in your relationship is what fuels the sense of romance." Here is a list of activities and/or events for you and your spouse to do for the weekend getaway:

  • Visit a baseball, basketball, or football game

  • Try out a few restaurants

  • Stay at a bed and breakfast inn

  • Visit an art gallery or museum

  • Go to a concert or movie

  • Camping, hiking, or skiing

  • Beach

  • Amusement park

  • Go on a yacht

  • Nightclubbing, party, or chill with friends

Boat Date

Do you own a boat? Or know a friend who owns or rents a boat? Let us take dating to a whole new level by going on a boat date! It can be done late evening or midday whichever you prefer or work with your schedule. A great boat ride on a late evening sounds amazing. You can include a picnic on the boat in the middle of the ocean. Be sure to order or cook a range of meals for the picnic. Bring along drinks and dessert to complement the meals. What better way to make your spouse feel special and loved than by giving them a pleasant evening out on a boat.

The Concert, Circus, or Bicycle Riding Date

Are you a fan of animals and individuals showing off their God-given talents? Beyoncé or Chris Brown are having a concert in or close to your town? Trains, cars, and airplanes are the fastest and main means of transportation. But why not rent or take a bicycle out for a ride in the town to go see a concert or visit a circus? There is something about riding a bicycle to places we want to go. Gauging the speed at which you ride so that you can take stops to take pictures and chill for a bit is a great idea. This a great way to visit multiple places in an untraditional way with your spouse. According to the article 5 Reasons Why Going on A Bicycle Ride Is the Perfect Date “the old methods of dinner & a movie or a walk on the beach are tried and true, but also boring.” A bicycle ride date offers the following:

  • It is free and does not cost you a single dollar nor gas to travel to and from

  • It does not require conversation but a lot of site seeing

  • There are no set rules you and your spouse must follow

  • The first part of your bicycle ride involves creating chemistry and stopping for a drink or a bite to eat which will be more relaxing

Making and maintaining meaningful connections with a little pizazz and heart makes a date special. You may not be romantic at heart or creative but if you put in a little effort whatever or wherever you go for a date will be something that your spouse will enjoy. Outdoor camping, a spa treatment, boat ride, or a bicycle ride are excellent dates you can check out for your next big date.
